Plannning a No spend weekend!

June 26th, 2013 at 06:14 pm

Last weekend I kinda over did it in spending. I went to five and below got some cute weekender bags for the kids to use for pool and the ymca. I ended up getting nice speakers for my ipod and nice head phones for relaxing in bed. These items were so great for our needs I thought it was money well spent. Since I did this outside my budget, I decided have a no spend weekend for my family this weekend.I will be buying a few groceries for the meals this Friday. No more than $50-$70. I plan on fun family around the house this weekend and on demand movies and maybe swimming at local pool and doing a little family barbecue. I would greatly appreciate any ideas for fun around the house with my teenagers.

Good job being mindful of spending. Were you able to action any of the suggestions offered? Since some spending was more than planned, can you find a couple of reductions this weekend like DVDs from library or kids crafting with items at hand, easy peasy popcorn snacks, meals mostly from pantry supplies etc. What is the plan for July 4th? What free/nearly free community events would every one enjoy? What planning for picnic or take with you lunch for July 4th events? Because of the crowds, advance planning is important for departure, what to take, route, parking and getting home safe and tired.

I have off the fourth of July so I'll be taking the kids to see the fireworks and pack snacks of course.

Do you have things around the house you could make crafts with to keep the kids busy? I broke down and joined Pinterest and have seen some cool things that are easy and made cheaply. Snafu has some great ideas and the advance planning is imperative.

Yes I love Pinterest. I have got allot of craft ideas from there. We hit the library every Wednesday. We are also going to check out a new library outside of town that is new. We went to feed the ducks twice this week. They will be going to camp pretty soon.

THE WEEKEND WAS much fun around the house with family coming over. It is never a dull moment at our house with teenagers. I barbecued outback and we hung out around the patio jamming to music. I think next weekend we might build a bon fire and make smores and bring over all the friends. Just a thought!
